sCT nasal

Salmon Calcitonin (sCT) is a naturally occurring amidated peptide hormone composed of 32 amino acids which binds to osteoclasts and inhibits bone resorption. Calcitonins from many species are effective in humans, but salmon calcitonin is most widely used. It is highly potent in humans because of its high affinity for the human calcitonin receptor and its slow rate of clearance. Calcitonin has been shown to be efficacious for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis, for the treatment of symptomatic Paget's disease of bone and for the treatment of hypercalcemia.
